Challenge:

Casa Vida Nueva Para Niños A.C. (CVN) is located South West of Nogales, Sonora MX and miles away from any city supplied electrical system. They used gasoline generators to power limited electrical needs at a cost of $52 USD per day – very expensive. In order to do laundry for the children and adults, they needed to unplug their refrigerator to help gain enough generator power to run the washing machines.

Good News: On December 19, 2015, Valley Presbyterian Church, Green Valley AZ and local friends of CVN, pulled together and donated $42,875 to help buy, install and maintain a solar power system for the home. The installers were from Hermosillo, MX (four hours away) and stayed on-site until the project was completed. The entire system was installed on February 13, 2016. Thank you all for your generous support which helped make their solar dream a reality.
