On September 8 Norma Baker from Desert Hills Lutheran Church in Green Valley organized and led a group of 6 on an educational trip to Casa Vida Nueva Para Niños in Nogales Sonora, MX. The trip was sponsored by RISE Scholastic Achievements.
Their goal was to teach the children how to sew – a skill that will help them later in life. They brought with them 6 sewing machines (2 of which were later donated) and all the materials necessary for training 15 girls and boys how to sew sachet bags, pillows and draw string bags. The class lasted 6 hours to the excitement of the children. This is the second trip Norma has coordinated. These trips have been developed into a hands-on “making a difference” mission. Future trips are planned.
