“RISE is a Life changing event!”
This comment was heard multiple times during our October 14, 2017 trip to the “Home for Children.” The big news was that RISE Scholastic Achievements, Inc. was presented. Once the kids grasped the RISE concept, they went wild with excitement. RISE is a new 501(c)(3) organization that provides a sustainable source of revenue support for the children who have been accepted for upper secondary education (high school), college, trade school, professional/technical studies and work/study programs. RISE helps eliminate the financial obstacle blocking their path to a better life. Prior to RISE being announced, Elias Herrera, Director of CVN gave a detailed overview of the recent changes at the home; including showing videos of the solar panel and water well projects. He also created a new video showing the challenges of getting an education in Mexico – very moving. After the RISE presentation, we had lunch with the children and talked about higher education opportunities, toured the facility and received lots of hugs from the children.
